TMG Development Gives New Life to Neighborhood Church

Situated in the midst of a largely Catholic neighborhood near Mount Mercy University lies a protestant church of infinite beauty. We knew at first look that this lovely structure had so much life still to live, and our minds went straight into imagination mode on what new purpose the church would serve.

Built in 1949, the church held a small footprint to suit the congregation. In the early 1970s, a new sanctuary was added, boasting expansive Scandinavian-esque wood paneled ceilings and majestic windows that are simply awe inspiring. Paired with the historically accurate brick exterior still intact, the church owns a unique beauty that nods to long ago decades yet cries for a little 2020s coloring outside the lines.

Like many churches now empty, especially post-Covid, there are so many possibilities to repurpose this building in a way that will honor its history and serve our city. We had a slew of potential usage ideas, but a bit of luck and inspiration brought its new purpose into focus…

Keep following our blog as we take you through the metamorphosis of this renovation. With all the beauty this church holds, we’re certainly counting on what’s old to become new again!
